NCCO8 National Conference - Call for Interest Sessions

The National Collegiate Choral Organization (NCCO) invites applications for interest sessions relevant to the collegiate choral profession. Session may include a colleague from the choral field, from one's home institution, from another discipline outside of music, or a composer. Sessions will be 30 minutes in length and can include live choral performance (either by bringing one's own choir or using the assembled audience). NCCO sessions strive to include choral works and topics appropriate for college (two-- and four-year) and university choirs of varying sizes, voicing, and levels of ability.

Sessions should focus on exploring topics of interest to the general membership of NCCO and can take a variety of forms including, but not restricted to, lecture, lecture recital, or open rehearsal. Sessions may also take a specific, literature focus. Such sessions typically feature approximately five to seven choral works. Literature-focused session should be more than a cursory reading, and can include personal commentary, historical perspective, analysis, and rehearsal where deemed desirable or necessary. If presenters propose a literature-focused interest session, NCCO will provide the literature packets and an accompanist. Cost of music will be taken into consideration and applicants may be encouraged to find alternate ways of presenting cost prohibitive works.

To Apply

Each applicant should submit:

1. An abstract of the proposed session
2. A CV for each presenter
3. If more than one presenter, a description of other presenters' role
4. If proposing to bring your choir, recent MP3 recordings of the choir. Include two selections from the current academic year and two from the previous year. Recordings must be from live, concert performances.
5. For literature-themed sessions, 5--7 choral works and an optional, brief note linking the selected works to the chosen topic.

Deadline: All materials must be submitted by May 1, 2019, 11:59p CST.

Notification: Results will be announced by June 15, 2019.
