NCCO8 National Conference - Call for Panel Participation: “Considering Culture”

The National Collegiate Choral Organization (NCCO) invites applications for panel members at the 2019 National Conference. The topic is Considering Culture in Programming and Performance.

The growing call for diversity in collegiate choral programming combined with an evolving interest in global cultures raises both opportunities and challenges for the choral director. This panel explores effective ways to appropriately incorporate into the collegiate choral ensemble literature from various cultures and musical traditions.

The 50-minute panel includes approximately three panelists from the National Collegiate Choral Organization joining our two headliners, Maria Guinand and Damien Sneed. The goal of the session is to foster dialogue and discussion between and among panelists, not to create individual mini-lectures from all panelists. One of the selected applicants may be asked to serve as moderator for the panel.

To Apply

Each applicant should submit:

  1. A current CV
  2. A brief, 1-page statement outlining your research, scholarship, or experience as it relates to the given topic, highlighting specific experiences or practices you might bring to this discussion.

Deadline: All materials must be submitted by May 1, 2019, 11:59p CST.

Notification: Results will be announced by June 15, 2019.
